Annie Ford: Researching Writing Lives

i have thoroughly enjoyed this module of writing lives this year. It has allowed me to gain confidence in myself as it has pushed me out of my comfort zone. This is because i am used to submitting the generic essay for my module assessment therefore producing blogs was something different and inquisitive to complete.

I decided to choose the author Mrs Annie Ford born in 1920 who lived in the area of greater Manchester, known as Collyhurst Road. Although only a short memoir of 2,000 words, this memoir caught my eye as it did not follow a perfect structure and tended to wonder off about certain life events. Annie’s memoir expressed adventure and nostalgia which is something I find intriguing to learn more about another persons experience.

I produced eight different thematic blog posts, each displaying a different taste of Annie’s childhood life including her education, parent’s labour, culture and various others.

My favourite part was using social media such as twitter to allow others instant access and feedback on my blogs. I also enjoyed researching about working class people in the 1920’s as this was the time period of my author Annie’s memoir.
